Children and parents view water as a fun summer past time or part of their daily hygiene routine. However, water can also be a danger to children and it is important for parents to be aware of the potential dangers and watch their child closely.

Some facts about water safety for children:

  • A child can drown in one inch of water
  • Most drowning and near-drowning incidents occur when a child falls into a pool or is left alone in the bathtub
  • Bathtubs, buckets, toilets, and hot tubs present drowning dangers
